Abstract:
This paper proposes the architecture design of a new kind of robot controller, and itstransputer-based parallel processing implementation. Novel application requirements for robots andadvancement in electronic techniques have impulsed computer architecture design for robots in specificapplication direction, namely, VLSI. The design presented reflects the thought of hierarchically intelligentcontrol. A transputer chip developed by INMOS corporation is used as the elementary unit of this systemso that it can provide stronger computing capacity, expansibility and flexibility than previous controllers.
