Abstract:This paper surveys some of the latest progress about the research of intelligent vehicles (also called wheel mobile robots )in the world. Navlab 5 system developed by CMU of America, VAMors-P system by Germany and Peugeot system by France are mainly introduced. The principal and common featured of vision processing systems are analyzed. The tendencies of research and development that are worth to pay close attention to are induced. Some discussions in connection with the existing problems are also given.
