Abstract

Evolutionary robots(ER)is based on the idea of evolution for developing robotic systems. It points out a new direction for robot design and introduces the idea of artificial life to this field. This paper present fundamentals, design principles, developing histories, and prospects of ER. A design example of ER is discussed too in this paper.
