Abstract
This paper discusses an octant structure for three-dimensional objects.A direct proce-dure for encoding higher order octants belonging to an object is presented.A data re-presentation for computer implementation of octant encoding is given.Fast algorithmsare presented for (1) updating an object's octant encoding as the object is linearlymoved through space and (2) converting an object's octant encoding as the objectis rotated 90°.
