TELEPRESENCE---AN IMPORTANT TECHNIQUE OF VIRTUAL REALITY

Virtual Reality is a wholly new interactive environment between the user and the machine,and it attracts more and more attentions from people all over the world. Telepresence is one of the important research branches of Virtual Reality that was developed by the need of telemanipulation. Because the implementation of telepresence can improve the capability of telemanipulation greatly,it induces the research interests of many people, and it has developed a great deal.This paper introduces the concepts about the technique of telepresence and its main research contents.Then the main techniques in realizing telepresence are analyzed in detail.Its future applications are foreseen in the end.
